Top 12 Questions

1. I understand the theory, will I get help with the practical application?

Often the basic knowledge might be there but you are lacking the experience to know how to apply that in practice.  Our 24/7 pre-recorded training is there as a resource to dip into as you need it.  This will provide theoretical value, with a good bit of practicality thrown into the mix.

Sometimes though, learning practical application needs more than a pre-recorded training module.  You need to see a worked example and have a live discussion.

Our LIVE Asset Valuation Labs, which will be at least 4 times per year, will fill that need for you.  We will use the Labs to work through real life examples of particularly challenging asset valuation scenarios.

Our aim is to record the LIVE events, and make these available within the portal to watch again and again.   So they will always be there available as a resource to dip back into.

2. What if I have rather unique challenges?

Not every challenging scenario fits neatly into a box.  Sometimes, there are very specific circumstances around an asset that needs something a little more bespoke.  That is where our Asset Valuation Hotline comes into its own.  You can simply drop us an email with your particular challenge and we will get an email response back to you with an answer or some guidance.

Alongside all of that, we will be keeping you up to date with valuation and accounting alerts so you are kept bang up to date on all the latest guidance, standards and news affecting your asset valuations.

3. Is the Asset Valuation Circle ONLY for Valuers?

Absolutely NOT.

If you are a commercial valuation practice, you will be looking to ensure consistency across the outputs of your teams.  This is often more difficult where teams are spread across a number of offices around the UK.  Where team members are completely new to local authority asset valuation, you need to build their knowledge and competency levels.

Getting this right helps you win and keep more local authority asset valuation commissions.

Valuers carrying out asset valuations for local authorities need to understand the accounting and valuation standards, and how they apply to what they are valuing.

So absolutely, the Asset Valuation Circle is perfect for your Valuers.  But it is not just for Valuers.

If you are Team Leader or Manager overseeing the valuation programme, you need to understand what your team are doing, and how they are doing it.  You need to be satisfied that they are producing high quality valuations and that the reputation of your team is maintained.

You may have Business Support or Trainee staff that are involved in the asset valuation process.  They could be carrying out research or providing your Valuers with information for the asset valuations.  If so, an insight into the process and outcomes will be invaluable to them, so that they understand the context of their role.

There is value for everybody in the Asset Valuation Circle. It is not just for Valuers.

We encourage everyone to join.

4. How much training is there is the portal?

We guarantee that in your first year of membership of the circle you will have access to a minimum of 20 hours CPD, although we are fully expecting to exceed this figure.

Some of that will be pre-recorded and some of it will be LIVE.

The pre-recorded training will build in volume over time, as we want to make sure that all the training is based around fresh and up-to-date scenarios and examples, that reflect current challenges.

This means that there will NOT necessarily be 20 hours of CPD available at the launch of the Asset Valuation Circle in January 2021.

This will be a gradual process.  In part the process will be guided by you.  We will be keen to understand what your most pressing area of training is.  We can then prioritise the uploading of pre-recorded training content around subscriber needs.

For example during 2020/2021 we would anticipate that training on IFRS16 will be high on many people's priority list!

Eventually of course we hope to easily exceed 20 hours CPD content.

5. How do I access all the online benefits?

We have a dedicated portal just for the Asset Valuation Circle.  You can access the portal from anywhere using your unique username and password.  Each person has their own personal password.

With an increasing number of organisations adopting agile working, that versatility is essential.  You will be able to access the portal on your work or personal laptop, PC or tablet.

Not only that, we have a dedicated mobile app for you to use, so even if you are someone that is still commuting, you can plug in your headphones and watch the training on the move.

What could be more flexible or versatile than that?

We will from time to time use a variety of streaming media for the LIVE training.  You will need to make sure that you have access to the appropriate software or browsers for our chosen streaming service.

6. What if team members change?

No problem at all. We understand that staff leave, get promoted or move into other roles.

Simply notify us of the change of name and the new person's email address, and we will make the change and issue a fresh password.

This gives you total flexibility, so that you can maximise your value from the Asset Valuation Circle at all times.

7. Can we share the password access around the team?

Passwords will be issued and are personal to each individual.  If you have a group membership then everyone will have their own password.

This is important and enables our training portal to provide you with a record of the training modules that each person has visited.

If your needs change and you feel later on that you would need more people accessing the portal than you have subscribed, then simply let us know and we can arrange to upgrade you.

8. When is access available?

The Asset Valuation Circle launches on 1st January 2021, and you will be able to access the re-recorded training modules from that date.

By the end of January 2021 there will be a minimum of 20 hours CPD.

We are planning our first LIVE Lab in January 2021.

9. What does it cost?

Commercial property firms are of such different sizes, with different levels of penetration into the local authority asset valuation market, we do not have published price cards for commercial subscriptions.

If you can let us know the sort of numbers of people that you would like to have access the Asset Valuation Circle resources, then we will be more than happy to quote you a price.

Just click on the LEARN MORE button on the previous page.  This will generate a form for you to complete and submit with your contact details.  We will get back to you to talk through your needs and what level of subscription would be best for you.

10. What if I need access for more people?

If after taking out your subscription, you find that the subscription level you have signed up for  is limiting and you would like to expand the access to more people in your team, then this can be arranged.  There may of course be an additional charge to pay for increased numbers within your subscription.

Just get in touch by emailing us on [email protected].  We will have a chat with you about your requirements and let you know what the cost would be for a larger subscription.

11. How do we pay?

Our preferred method of payment is by credit card.  This is the quickest and simplest.  If you are unable to use this as a payment method please get in touch so we can discuss alternatives with you.

12. How long is membership for?

Subscription to the Asset Valuation Circle lasts for 12 months.  You are free to access all the resources whilst you are still a subscriber.
